Pranic Healing Guru – Choa Kok Sui is no more
November 13, 2007
I came to know that master Choa kok sui, the founder of Pranic healing movement died in March of this year. He was pretty young and was about 53 years old. The last time I saw Master Choa Kok sui was a couple of years ago in the St John’s Auditorium in Bangalore, where he was conducting a public function of mass healing. He was visibly overweight and looked unhealthy. I came to know that he suffered from many ailments and last year he had a bout of pneumonia and died because of that in March 07. I sometimes wonder why a person who claimed to heal so many illnesses through his psychic powers couldn’t get himself healed. Of course his followers have a ready explanation that he took the karma or the ailments of his students and died for it. A friend of mine who is his avid follower told me that Choa Kok Sui out of compassion realised that he is better off helping more people in his disembodied state than while he was alive in his body and hence he left his body.
Master Choa Kok sui started his healing career somewhere in the late eighties and he visited bangalore in the early Nineties when he introduced Pranic healing in India. He had readily borrowed from many sources in the yoga and occult traditions to create his own patented system of healing. That’s when I came to know about him and also met him in person in Atheetha Ashram of Swami Sahajananda. Choa Kok Sui was very approachable and not quite popular during this time. He later became a cult figure.
Swami Sahajananda was a disciple of Chinmayananda and was into naturopathy and yoga healing. He had walked all over india on foot and collected funds and did a lot of rural development activities in Atheetha Ashram in thally. Choa Kok Sui was invited to the ashram and he later became a patron of that ashram. Swami Sahajananda was influenced by many people from varied backgrounds like Gandhi, E.F.Schumacher, Albert Schweitzer, Arnold Ehret, Herbert Shelton, Osho and Chinmayanada and his teachings were a mixture of the teachings of all these people. He believed in fasting and he did fast for long durations ranging from a week to three weeks. He was also interested in yoga and ayurveda and experimented with a lot of these things. I liked Sahajanada for his social work, simplicity and humility. He was also invited to Philiphines by Master Chao kok sui in 1993. That was his first tour abroad and Sahajanada died a few months later on his return to India. He was diagnosed of cancer and he died at a very young age of 48. I was shocked to hear the news of his death because I had heard many lectures from Sahajanda about health and healing and how yoga, natural hygiene and fasting can improve ones health and prolong life.
Influenced by Sahajananda, I used to follow all the rules of food, hygiene and yoga. I even used to lecture about these things to my classmates in college. But this incident really left me thinking and also changed my views and I decided not to have firm and rigid views about anything and also not fall a prey for fads. I do believe and have found the benefits of moderation in diet and also the benefits of exercises like Yoga, walking and aerobic exercises. I am quite healthy by most standards and have never been to a doctor for years. I feel health and longevity depends on three things genetics, lifestyle and environmental factors. Genetics do play an important role in longevity. Some people are hard wired to lead a long and healthy life in-spite of their extreme indulgence and leading an epicurean life. There are some people who are quite moderate and frugal in their habits and they die young. So it is still a mystery and no one knows the secrets of longevity including the scientists, medical men and other soothsayers who claim to have insights into these things.
During this time even the self help Guru Deepak Chopra was in Bangalore. Chopra was still selling TM and not started on his own and he was not that popular. I found an article in the national newspaper which was quite funny, Chopra claimed that as a result of his practice of TM Chopra has stopped ageing. This was a ridiculous statement and now we all know that Deepak is ageing just like all others. Just compare his old and new photographs. One thing I understood during this time was that these people in the holy and healing business will go to any lengths to sell their products. Most of their testimonials and case histories are false and they only project what was good and suppress any bad evidence.
I know some people in Bangalore who are into pranic healing and they worship their Guru Choa Kok Sui almost as a God. They used to call him grandmaster Choa Kok Sui. There are certain characteristics I see in some of these people. They are all quite paranoid and obsessed with what they call ‘Bad Vibrations’. They are all the time judging people and have a ‘holier than thou’ attitude. They are also very secretive about their meditation and healing techniques like the Twin heart Meditation, Arhatic Yoga, Meditation on the Soul and Kundalini Meditation. You would have to go through their courses where they teach all these techniques for a heavy price. They claim that all these techniques were developed by the Grand Master Himself including all those funny new vocabulary on colour prana and cleansing and energizing techniques. However they don’t realize that Choa Kok Sui has borrowed from many known sources like Bihar School of Yoga, Alice Bailey and Theosophical Society. What he was teaching was not something new and it was quite old and infact very popular in the early part of the nineteenth century and popularized by such authors like the American yogi Ramachakra alias William Walker Atkinson.
Choa Kok Sui towards the end of his life had become a megalomaniac. He even claimed that his photograph has healing properties and now after his death his followers have begun to worship his photograph. He created a fictitious lineage to which he claimed that he belonged to and associated it with the Mahayana Buddhist master Padmasambhava or Mei Lung as he is called in Chinese. He even went about sending court notices to other energy healing teachers like Mantak Chia of Thailand and an Indian Author. He claimed that these authors committed the grave sin of plagiarising him. He could not use his loving kindness meditation to forgive these people of trespasses and after all these were not some great scientific and technological discoveries that they plagiarised but some rehash of age old yogic techniques.
One of the typical qualities of groups like Pranic healing, Siddha samadhi Yoga and Ravishankar’s art of living is the claim for the unique qualities of the wares they sell. In art of living we have the sudharshan Kriya which is a rehash of energizing breathing techniques and they associate all kinds of mystical qualities to this exercise. The same with the pranic healing foundation, in their websites they have outlandish claims of miracles. There is one instance on the pranic healing website where one of the practitioner of this system has mentioned about a miracle on how his CD player did not stop playing the meditation CD by Choa Kok Suion Om even after hours of the expected duration in the CD thereby defying the laws of electronics. (http://www.pranichealing.org/testimonials/t_journey.htm#cd).
It cant get more absurd than this.

views, Values and thoughts always change, your thoughts towards Sahajananda change so as the views towards everything..
Your projection and tone of writing express that as if you are the best judge..Are you?.. if so who gave you that right and what for?
Keep your mind open to all with out bias then you will not examine, Cho Kok Sui, or Zakir Naik or Ravishanker…

To F.R.
views, Values and thoughts always change, your thoughts towards Sahajananda change so as the views towards everything..
Why did my views on Sahajananda change? First let me give you some details. Sahajananda was a well meaning person and in many ways I have great respect towards him. But there was an element of foolhardiness in him which made him propagate that all the ills plaguing mankind had answers in the system of Yoga and natural hygiene that he propagated. He was of course quite open to many things and was quite experimentative. For that I have the highest regard for him. But like most Yogis he did make many dogmatic statements in his speeches and writings about diet and food. After careful observations in my and other peoples lives, I realized that many of his premises were flawed. My biggest question to Sahajananda was ‘How can you be so sure’ because he used to speak with firm conviction. It is the same question I have for people who try to sell their spiritual wares and goodies as the only way. Basically their own teachings do not operate in their lives. And as they say the proof is in the pudding and Sahajanada could not live up to the expectations of his teachings.
People like Sri Sri Ravishankar, Choa kok sui and Zakir Naik all fall into that bracket. When a person teaches you ‘Art of Living’ naturally his premise is he knows much more than you or the general populace about ‘Art of Living’. They might incorporate some universal principles and some yogic exercises in their programs but my experience with this organization has made it clear to me that their agenda is more about the personal aggrandizement of the guru and they have falsified many benefits and claims. Also after careful observation of the followers of these gurus I have found that they become narrow and closed to other sources of knowledge and become only focused on their Guru to provide them with all knowledge and guidance. Of course this is a broad generalization and might not be the case with everyone but the intent of the groups like art of living is to make people completely focused towards the personality of the Guru. Check out their literature and you will know it. I feel that this is not ‘Art of Living’ according to me as it robs me the freedom to think on my own. They are also not genuinely interested in the social welfare schemes and they use it as pretence to garner wider acceptance and support to earn more money and further their cult. I know many details about these things first hand wrt ‘Art of living’.
Zakir Naik again is dogmatic and believes that every thing that needs to be known about life, living and even science is contained in the Quran. It is this dogmatism which I am questioning. In case of Choa Kok sui his claims are quite absurd and not supported by scientific evidence. He has also falsified several of his claims regarding Kirlian photography and all that stuff about Chakras and their colors. Choa kok sui’s teaching has also resulted in paronia (due to obsession with bad vibrations) and guilt (due to too much moralizing) in many of his followers in Bangalore.
I have interacted closely with Choa Kok Sui and Ravishankar and also their followers and have known them for many years. Yes you are right, views do change from time to time and my views regarding these people has changed from admiration to aversion after knowing them intimately and understanding their strategy and their true colors. There are many intimate details I can share about these people but I will reserve for other posts.
Your projection and tone of writing express that as if you are the best judge..Are you?.. if so who gave you that right and what for?
I am just talking about my opinions about these people whom I have encountered. Of course I am judging them. I have never claimed that I am the best judge. I am just expressing my opinions in this blog. I don’t think I need to ask permission from any one to express my views here. Also I am not bound by any vow to not judge people. Most spiritual groups like Art of living and Pranic healing impose strictures not to ‘Judge’ so that they can kill the discriminating faculty of their followers and make them susceptible and gullible to their own cult propaganda. Are you by any chance caught up in this kind of thing?
After all these people you have mentioned – Chao Kok Sui, Zakir Naik and Ravishankar have been quite open in their judgement towards many people and school of thoughts. So just like all these people I am also a human being who is entitled to my opinions. Are you telling me that I have no right to talk about these great people. And who do you think should sanction the right to talk about them. Is there some international body or committee from which I need to take permission before talking about these people. I would not be talking about these people if they had not made those grandiose claims. They have encroached our institutions and organizations and have used their advertising and PR machinery to solicit converts. So it is but natural for me to examine their claims and judge them based on the tools which is available to me, which is my intellect. Your questioning my right to air views is fascist in nature. Sorry I live in a free society as a free citizen.
Keep your mind open to all with out bias then you will not examine, Cho Kok Sui, or Zakir Naik or Ravishanker
It is because of the fact that I have kept my mind open that I am examining them. Had I been a closeted follower I would have dared not question these authorities and would have lived in the slumber of ignorance. Again you are hinting that examination and questioning is bad and we should live a life of obedience or at the most avoid talking about these hallowed people. May I ask you why? According to you are these people beyond all judgement? What makes you think that way. I am interested to know.

Atma Namaste! the purpose of existence of each one of us is unknown till you become self-realized. Most of the great souls are messengers of a greater soul. To understand, appreciate and grow in the lights dawn on us is what we need to perceive in our life. To use intelligent evaluation is what all these great ones propogate. They drag you closer to them, the moment you challenge their findings…because you have set your effort in walking the path they had! When you have the guts to claim a thing wrong, truth is closer. Their job is finished..they have been instrumental in evoving your soul. These great ones are not for fame or flatters…one who evolves from one’s current state is their mission. Their goal, purpose, and way of life cannot be viewed by us as our vision is much tainted with our custom, tradition, language, lifestyle, and so on.
Your opinions are all true.. but there are greater levels of truth…

Dear DRV,
I love the incisive nature of your posts. I agree with everything you write. Your UGK post made great reading.
Your post on Zakir Naik (Doctor, medical Doctor) is the best possible analysis of the man and his peaceful ideology. Therefore, I protest your bracketing him with a simplistic Sri^n Ravi Shankar and Mr Choke Sui (never heard of him before. But I recollect having seen the Twin heart meditation thing on Astha channel once. The guy assumes a vulture like pose and barely moved for 3-4 minutes. So still that I thought there was some problem with the broadcast)
What have these people done to deserve this -
“People like Sri Sri Ravishankar, Choa kok sui and Zakir Naik all fall into that bracket. ” ???
There is some difference in their levels of obsession.
Warm regards.

A wise man once said “you can judge a man’s success from his enimies.” Don’t forget to judge Jesus the Christ, he died at 36. He knew he was to die, he could have run, but he chose to accept his destiny.
Perhaps the reason these teaching are repeated and repeated down through the eons is because we are not getting it. Look around are we living the teachings?
6. Yogi Joyce | January 8, 2008 at 10:34 am
This post is quite interesting. From the author’s narration it is clear that any form of healing cannot gaurantee you a long life. So we have Chao Kok sui and Sahajanada dying quite young inspite of the fact that they were into the healing business. We all follow healing gurus, techniques and traditions order to be healed of some ailments we have and to lead a healthy and long life. Maybe your article will prevent some people from taking up pranic healing as they don’t have a proven record. I think the best bet is the Krishnamacharya Yoga Tradition:
Sri Krishnamacharya Lived uptil 100
His Disciples:
Indira Devi – Died at 101 years
BKS Iyengar – 89 and still going strong
Pattabhi Jois – 90 and still going strong
Jiddu Krishnamuthi – Died at 93
Yehudi Menhuin – Died at 83
My question to Mr Acharya is – What do you say about the Krishnamacharya lineage and longevity. You claim that logetivity and health depend on factors like genetics, environment and lifestyle. So maybe there is something in the yoga practices taught by Krishnamacharya and his famous disciples.
7. drvacharya | January 8, 2008 at 10:51 am
@Yogi Joyce
I am not an expert in this field. Even i wonder why Krishnamacharya and disciples in his tradition are quite long lived. Maybe as you say they have something. Also most of the teachers in his tradition are householders and lived normal family lives. They were also not very mystical in their approach (Except JK).Also their practices are highly physical. Maybe the discipline and the physical exercises has worked well on all these people.
My intent of writing about Choa Kok Sui and Sahajanada was how they proved their own teachings did not operate in their lives.
@nannette
Jesus was 33 not 36 when he died or rather was killed. What specific teachings of jesus are you talking about. We are not sure it was a concious decision on the part of Jesus to be crucified. Jesus is an antiquated figure and we hardly know anything apart from what is written in the Bible. If Jesus’s teachings are not being heeded by people there must be something wrong with his teachings. What specific teachings are you talking about.
8. Bonnie | January 8, 2008 at 11:04 am
I agree with Yogi Joyce that this article is very bad publicity for the ‘Pranic Healing Movement’. The practitioners of pranic healing will surely ward of this negative blog by using their ‘Psychic self defence’ techniques taught by Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui’. So Mr Acharya please be careful.
9. drvacharya | January 8, 2008 at 11:14 am
@ Jamoora
Thanks for your comments.
I completely agree that Zakir Naik cannot be bracketed with Ravishankar and Choa Kok Sui. I did mention all of them in the same vein to drive home the fact about holy businesses.
10. Stefano | January 16, 2008 at 5:33 pm
I am a born again christian.
I think that Choa Kok Sui and other gurus are simply false prophets according Matthw 24,24; Deuteronomy 13,1-3-
http://www.gospelway.com/religiousgroups/hinduism.php
Only believing in God-man Jesus Christ how your personal Lord and Saviour you can be saved.
11. Divya | January 16, 2008 at 5:53 pm
I have known both Swami Sahajananda and Master Choa Kok Sui. I do not agree with your view points on both.
Yes – they taught and helped a lot of people with their own schools. Their methods were effective – which justifies the admiration they receive from the people who have experienced it.
I feel you find that their teachings are similar to what is already been taught in several other schools – I say it is not because they were ‘borrowed’ – but because truth is universal. Just like water is the same everywhere – but people of different regions call it by different names. One cannot say that only one group of people are right and the others are wrong.
Instead one can acknowledge that these spiritual principles have stood through the test of time and are being revealed over and over again to us in a simple, easy to understand fashion according to the times through teachers like them. I am grateful for the knowledge I have received through these 2 teachers because they put it in a way I understand and left me free to experiment and explore. They themselves have acknowledged of the existence of the methods in our culture – they only sought to increase the awareness of the general public about how to help themselves using these ancient techniques.
There is no one path for spirituality – each of us is more comfortable with one or two paths more than the others. All paths deserve the same respect which one gives their own path because all our roads lead to the same destination finally.
I also think that the age of their bodies when they passed away doesn’t matter. How many doctors do you know? Well, all the ones I know are definitely not immortal in body just because they know everything that their profession has to offer. They concentrate on just using what they have learnt to help others – which is the same for Swamiji and Master.
I do not believe that what you say of them will affect their schools in anyway. Those who wish to know the truth for themselves will definitely try to understand and practice their teachings before judging them blindly on listening to your or my opinions. The ones who knew them while they lived will count the moments spent with them among the best moments of their lives like me. (No, this is not blind admiration. I believe in them because I have seen their methods work – and I have proved to myself time and again that their techniques work).
Hats off to the two wonderful men who dedicated their lives to making our world a better place to live in.
12. Stefano | January 18, 2008 at 2:58 pm
You say:
“There is no one path for spirituality – each of us is more comfortable with one or two paths more than the others. All paths deserve the same respect which one gives their own path because all our roads lead to the same destination finally”
This is totally false.
Every key open only one lock. Jesus is key of life’s lock.
God have spoke very ver clearly:
Jeremiah 23,17 They continually say to those who despise Me, ‘ The LORD has said, “You shall have peace”’; And to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say, ‘ No evil shall come upon you.’”
John 14,6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Acts 4,12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved
John 8,47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Hey Stefanno, If you read the previous posts, you will come to know about people being so closed to knowledge and betterment. You Stefano have provide to be the best example for that. Use your god gifted discrimination. Dont behave like some deranged idiot. Please dont crucify the Lord Jesus a million times each day !! Leave him alone!!

An interview with Kushwanth Singh
Question: What’s the secret of your, well being, vitality and long life?
Kushwanth Singh: The only secret is to acquire long-lived parents. My father died at 90 holding a glass of Scotch and my mother at 94 had one last request: her voice was feeble but she said whisky. The doctor said chalo give it. She took it and then threw it up.

Thanks for your article,
Pranic Healing has got “SCAM” written all over it, so infectious that it’s followers cannot question one single element of it’s teachings.
No I have not studied it, nor will I ever pay money to “learn the secrets”, the people I know that have been involved are paranoid and very single-minded, plus they feel that the more money they donate – the more enlightened they become.
Why would any man with genuine intentions to heal the world charge $1000 to be in his company for a single weekend?
I hope more stories come from people who have made it out the other side.
16. Healer | April 14, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Namaste,
I’m replying, because I’m yet to reach his level of greatness.

It was quite amusing to read your post…
Normally, I would’ve chosen to not respond, but, for whatever reasons, here I am.
‘Holier than thou’ – probably…but may God bless you also, with spirituality!
Have you learnt, experienced Pranic Healing? I have, and I love it. I love the way I am after getting into that school. Everybody else seems to love it as well.
Writing about something without adequate knowledge, is, forgive me for this, idiocy. For starters, Pranic Healing is not all about healing. There are, but, three or four courses which talk about ‘healing’. If you didn’t know, it’s called Pranic Healing & Arhatic Yoga.
It’s not all about living a long life, is it? It’s about a good life. It’s about evolution. If Pranic Healing makes me a better, a happier person, is it good? Yes it is.
Why we’re secretive, is for the best reasons. We are not supposed to talk about the teachings, is because we may not be capable enough of it. We don’t want people to misuse it. People take courses and give exams before they are allowed to train.
Talking about the whopping sum of money, the Basic course costs as much as a pair of jeans probably. And even if that’s too costly, don’t be stingy, and look at the priceless teachings you get. Any organization, to function properly, needs money! For people who can’t afford it, they at times do give the courses at minimal prices, or for free.
Have you even any idea about the kind of help the two funds, Food for Hungry, and Clothing for Women have given? Please increase your knowledge about this.
And then, about us defending our Guru, Master Choa Kok Sui. He’s way above this, trust me.
He asks us to not be fanatical, not deny that other schools are great as well, and he insists on medical help when required. If some Pranic Healers have been fanatical, not his mistake, is it? No, it isn’t.
Sir, Great Saints don’t die. They give up their body. If you know enough, you know that it’s called ‘Mahasamadhi’. If no other answer works for you, to know why, take this – His Wish.
Moreover, much against your wishes, healing works. It works miracles. I’ve seen people around me, who’re living a miracle. We never claimed that we save lives. We accelarate the body’s inherent recovery process.
You know what, I think, before saying anything about anyone, leave alone these great people who’ve made so many lives beautiful, you should know enough. Next time, please research before you write. Avoid idiocy.
I did not mean to hurt you in any way, and you must be a good person, for sure. Just that it’s really unfair to misguide people, good souls, who may, god forbid, take you seriously. May God bless you…really
Personally, I have no issues with you, just with your whole write. I’m sure, when the time comes, you’ll be shown the higher levels of truth.
Take care…and live a LONG life. I shall live a good one, long or short. You too can live a good life. Try it, it’s fun.
17. Healer | April 14, 2008 at 2:48 pm
Oh, by the way, I agree every bit with Divya.
Stefano, yet again, ‘levels of truth’. The literal meaning is probably the lowest. Go deep into the Bible, and you’ll know what it means.
Pranic Healing is not as much about religion. It is more about spirituality.
Thank you,
May God bless these souls with lots of spirituality.
18. aastha | April 21, 2008 at 8:34 pm
To all the people reading this post, may it bring answers to your questions and soothe you.
It is rightly said that you must empty your cup before filling it with something new. Its an advice to you .. If you think you know it all about any Spiritual guru or teacher, check yourself again. First practiucally judge all the point of views. Understand the fact that truth is multi-faceted.. If you see the head side of a coin, someone else might be seeing the tale… and there would be someone who would be seein both of them .. This was a simple instance to give you an idea of how vast truth is. I don’t see a point in mentioning the extent of loving kindness and works done by Master Choa Kok Sui here online in words right now because sometimes, action speaks louder than words… And with Pranic healing and Arhatic Yoga, the figures say it all.
A very simple spiritual fact is that spritual progress in the world is on an upward trend. You have to decide whether you want to be a part of it or not.. No one will force you. Nor will anyone say a no. So if you get a chance to go deeper, do give it a try. It really works.
The power and energies of great masters and avatars can be experienced by someone who wants to do so. For beings who want to critisice, there’s one simple solution.. Keep criticising but do not forget that what you so, so shall you reap.
I would suggest that to decide on Pranic healing or any form of yoga, first try getting into the depth of the subject and you’ll realise that you are being guided. It might sound weird to those who’ve never experienced it, but there are energies all around us. By doing twin hearts meditaion or any other form of dhyan, we get receptive and activated enough to sense them and grow ourselves .
And yeah a very important word that Mater Cho Kok Sui has taught me is “discernment” Use it. The first day of my basic class, I was zapped out with all that I was seeing, sensing and experiencing… I was full of questions and more questions.. .Master clearly said that “don’t believe anything blindly”. Judge yourself, find out the extent of truth in the fact and experience it yourself. And surprisingly, I found that all my questions were being answered in the best of the best ways like they had never ever been answered before..Not even by most learned and qualified people I had ever known..
Be it a medical ailment or an emotional problem, be it stress, financial crisis, or any other problem… Pranic healing is a way to make our life more beautiful by eradicating the so called problems of our lives.
This you will understand when you’re through with your Basic Course. Not marketing or something, if you want a difference and a better one, just go check it out. Or else, let the others continue with their spiritual development. Its all deep but true. And I believe in action more than in words. You can see it all happening around you. Why are you resisting it?
I understand its difficult to believe what you might read or see on t.v. or something but, there’s a difference between seeing it from away and practically performing that art. You tend to understand it properly only once you’re doing it yourslef… So good luck to you on your development.
19. Swami Shantarasa | April 22, 2008 at 6:22 am
Thanks Acharya for this nice article. These holy cows need to be exposed. I had known Chao Kok Sui and hosted him in San Fransciso some ten years ago. His greed for money was phenomenal. Not to mention his sexual kung fu experiments with ‘pure’ and ‘young’ girls. I realised that this man had lot of psychic power and he used it for his own selfish means. No wonder he suffered from all those diseases. All those charities are token movements typical to all guru cults. They help in wider acceptance and public sympathy. Chao kok sui was a failed master. Fortunately his following is not huge. It is a dying movement still keeping momementum from the backlog money collected in the nineties.
20. Mari | April 22, 2008 at 6:30 am
Mr.Choa Kok Sui, a Pranic Healing Grand Master of the Philippines, in a press meet on his visit to India in 2003, reportedly explained the difference between Reiki & Pranic healing as, “the same as a Mercedes & an old wheel cart.”
Mr. Chao Kok Sui is a Pranic healer who obviously feels he has the Mercedes and it is far superior to anything else. This is his truth. I have used both and I always return to Reiki as it is empowering the person to be the healer. We are in an equal relationship. Where as the healer Pranic or other wise is above his client is better and he is needed to do. There is no eye to eye, heart to heart relationship. This only empowers him. So in my estimation it does not matter what car the system represents. It is the benefit of the client that is important. I am humble and blessed to transfer this energy. I am the silent witness to their miracles. That to me could be a Rolls Royce.
It is my hope that all streams of healing can acknowledge the differences in each other and celebrate the sameness. We can return to the center where Usui is and also is the love and oneness of all.
21. Ravi | April 23, 2008 at 7:18 am
I accidentally came across this post. I am a happy and grateful Pranic Healer, in fact most of my family is into this amazing experience. I am fortunate to be in Pranic Healing. Why am I saying so. Because I have EXPERIENCED.
My cup needs to be empty to learn something new. Truth has several layers and everyone is growing. I have recently learnt that ‘judging’ is also something unwholesome like anger and greed.
God bless you with spirituality!

Truth has many layers. As a student of Master Choa Kok Sui I have wittnessed many miracles. Empty your cup and perhaps you will be granted a glimpse. I wonder that you have not shown all of his charitable works, perhaps because they did not support your negative comments? May God grant you discernment and spirituality.

Shree AcharyaJI, Namaste! I have taken nine courses with Pranic Healing and three of them with GM Choa Kok Sui Himself! The very first course on Basic of hardly 16 nhours in one weekend, I and my wife did, it was an amazing experience, that we could be effective healer within first week after the course. Of course, the correct way of saying is that the healer becomes the divine instrument in transfering healing to the patient. I personally have experienced that that his healing techniques work. Everytime I felt that I was the healer, it did not. However, everytime I felt that I was an instrument, it worked most of the times. As healing involves the faith of the receipient, too. It could be very complex phenomena beyond our understanding but I know it has worked in quite a few instances with me.
You may have come close to him but until you have learned his technique and applies and have your own experience, I feel it is not justifiable to make comments on these great people.
I love his Meditation Programs. His teachings made me understand and appreciate Hinduism or some of the great practices of Sanatan Dharm much better ….
I can understand that the disciples would tend to glorify the events of their Guru and esp. their death, so to say, and term that as Maha Samadhi – exiting their body on their own will ….
Death is a big mystery anyway … So what’s the difference whether they left their body on their own volition or they died.
I do not know what do you gain by insulting these great people. Then questions pops in my head: so what do U have to offer for the betterment of HUmanity other than Criticisms about some great souls who have done a lot for Humanity. If U do not have anything to offer constructive, I wish you should not fall prey to your egoism and earn bad Karma …
Ramkrishna was asked how come he would not heal himself? He said just by being attached to Naren, he would have to be born again …. So he did not want to have any attachment for his body ….
I can go on but I would like to conclude here by saying that Pranic Healing works with my experience and I have great honor, respect and love for his teachings and him coming accidently in our life. He gave me new sight / insight
May the divine force bless him with another birth to continue his divine work. …. THank you, Thank you, Thank you Grand Master for your teachings and in Full Faith, So be it!
In Love, Light and Healing!

I apprecitate pranic healing and understand how it can help me in alimited way. What ever you have written, mostly, they are also practical words in this practical world which others can answer in a straightforward manner without expecting you to be a blind devotee.
After all Choa kok sui did not die because of ripe old age, he died due to sickness. It will be worth while to undertsand philosopically the limitations and utility of PH and train our brain to accept such limitations and go with that.

Great article! I accidentally ran into this article. Keep up the good work!

Whatever , PH seems to be effective. Some tv shows are showing evidences of this stuff working. There are tons of other things that work , mantak chia / donna eden / master sha / gene edigo and lots of others.

But at the end we are all , just humans. Don’t assume we don’t die…
In fact this guy Gene Edigo, who has been healing so much doesn’t even have a clue how this thing happens. His hands just heal..
Some like Master Sha and Donna Eden, Mantak Chia know a lot about energy stuffs. More than us, that is… There’s still a lot more to learn I guess.
I will always have a respect for someone who utilizes their knowledge for benefit of others (healing) vs those forcing me into some dogma aka Church of God
There is nothing wrong in learning from a lot of masters. Do you think all your thoughts are YOURS?

Only Jesus Christ can give to people the salvation…
The “deeper levels of truths” are just satan’s frauds.
Galatians 1,6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

It comes with personal experience that I must say, do not be so quick to cast off such improbable serendipity such as this man’s CD continuing for hours. I have experienced a multitude of impossible sublime occurrences such as this at the young age of only 20. Now I’ve never been a gullible or sensational type ready and wanting to believe in whatever is convenient for me. In fact, as a mild practitioner of zazen I dare say I am a modestly religious person being atheist at the core of things. But when it comes to the universe poking its head out at you during seemingly insignificant yet exceedingly meaningful events, this does happen. It may be the individuals familiar with cultivating these kinds of perceptions and energies are more succeptible to these kinds of happening or it may be that it is only those who look for the baby jesus who find it in their breakfast. Ask yourself, what difference does it make to you? If none then good for you, if it makes all the difference then good for you. That’s all there is to know
I enjoy the meditation on twin hearts whether or not this ‘grandmaster’ is tapped in to the ‘real’ divine or the ‘fake’ divine. I believe you don’t have to have the perfect moves, sacred words, or proper methods to manipulate the energies of this existence. I believe if you have the intention, you can do anything. What about you?

Blessings to the Oneness that we all are and Atma Namaste, regardless of your beliefs or who or what you let guide you.
We are most grateful to the author of this article and the article itself. This humble person realizes that what can sometimes stir up emotions and make one feel repulsed or irritated, are just mirrors that others are holding for us to help us to evolve the way we want.
This person does not know very much about anything. But, she would like to acknowledge that everything written here in response to the article and including the article is most clearly true and accurate. We all See the truth and the various aspects of truth on our path. No one path is superior to another. Arhatic Yoga is NOT a superior path, nor is Pranic Healing modality superior to any other form of healing. What works for some is perfect for them and what works for others is equally as beautiful and perfect.
This incarnation has experienced much pain and suffering and has often been so frustrated with herself and the world for all of the acts of cruelty…or seemingly cruelty towards each other and the other creatures on this planet.
The Guru known as Choa Kok Sui was this incarnations first encounter with a living Guru in this lifetime. She has experienced the superiority and the exclusiveness that has been written and mentioned above in the posts. She has had “mentors” who introduced her to the Guru and the teachings that have hurt her by telling her she has terrible Karma because her childhood was incredible torturous and if she had good Karma she would have been born into a loving family, etc. etc. It took many many years to recover from this and she DID become paranoid and obsessed just like the others above have written. All that you say is true and correct, including what the other students of this Guru have written.
What this humble person does know for sure is that each one of our spiritual paths, whether we follow the teachings of a Guru or we are our own Guru, or we glean helpful information from many sources…the spiritual path is CHALLENGING. It’s not always enjoyable. This person has suffered greatly in her own way just as others have sufferred from the mere fact that we are alive and living during these times, and cannot control what others do. What this person has learned from her struggles is that she is very grateful for everyone for who they are and what they do and does not feel superior to anyone. She is grateful to the Guru Choa because he held a mirror up to her and helped her to become more humble, grateful, to practice loving-kindness, to not steal from others (intellectually, emotionally, or financially), and to not be ashamed to march to the beat of her own drum.
He has taught her that we are all students and Gurus for each other. There is not one person who is better than another. This great Guru (in this humble person’s opinion) is a great Teacher just as everyone else is. Yes, he did study other great teachers, channels, and yogis modern and ancient and collectively compile the information along with his insights into a system he believed would help everyone who is receptive on their path regardless if they chose him as their Guru or not. This wise man was also just a man, having a great spirit and soul like we All do, but also just a man who was evolving like all of us are. He admitted this fact many many times and it is written also in his writings. He, like the teachers, yogis, channels, and even his students he has learned from doesnt want to be worshipped or treated like a God. He told us that we are all Gods and Goddesses, each and every one of us. We are all Buddhas. He even has stated and written (just like many Gurus, Buddhas, and Great Spiritual Teachers, and even us humble students who are also Buddhas) to not look at him, to not focus on him…to look up, to look at what he is pointing at. Many others besides Choa have repeated this to people who have out of their own free will chosen to follow and learn from them.
Many people from all walks of life gather information and learn from others. We package and assimilate the information we receive, test it out on ourselves and then add to it from our own experience. Its old information…yes! However, we all have the right to add to it and then to protect our intellectual property. We all have access to the Divine Intelligence and all of this information belongs to all of us. In spirit, we probably do not care to lay claim to anything because at that level, we know that we are all One. However, on the physical plane, on Earth, this humble person finds it useful to balance compassion and mercy with justice and to practice loving-kindness and giving with also protecting individuality so that she doesn’t become a door mat and let others take advantage. There are many who take from others and this is just fine because this is THEIR PROCESS on their path and their path is perfect for them. However some of us practice not taking from others even if we did so in the past, and to not judge those who do take, but in accepting others…it is a good idea to also protect oneself in a loving and kind way.
We are all right and correct in our analysis and its a most beautiful thing that we are not like robots copying each other and being homogenous. How boring the world would be if we were all Perfect and doing things Perfect in each others eyes….we would never be happy with ourselves, nor would we ever please every one.
I love you all, all of my teachers and friends and acknowledge you all as Gurus. Many powerful sages and Gurus have honestly stated that others will come greater than they and that all of us have the same abilities, gifts, and talents that they…the Gurus possess. I humble believe that we are all great beings as we all come from the Source. The Source is perfect and can never make mistakes. We don’t make mistakes in my opinion, we are perfect in every moment. Even the judging and non-judging is perfect and serves a Divine purpose.
Much gratitude to all of you, and many many blessings of goodness in whatever ways and forms that serve you on your unique and glorious path.
Humbly,
Sreetha

I worked in a highly stressful environment and a coworker introduced me to pranic healing. Dealing w/ so much stress and being an open minded person, I was ready to try anything. The healings were relaxing. Eventually I went to full moon meditations and took the basic course. I always felt a little silly, but during the meditations I gained so many insights about the world. The speakers were always from such varied backgrounds, I enjoyed learning new ways of thinking about things. I thought this may be for me. Superficially there seemed to be no harm in learning about new cultures. Being agnostic, willing to believe that there are things I do not understand in this world & not willing to decide arbitrarily what is right or wrong, it was interesting for me to experience this point of view. But as I mulled all of these experiences over I began to wonder that the meditations seemed to put me in a hypnotic state, and after reading some books about hypnotism I can’t help but wonder that this is all that twin hearts meditation really is. I was also drawn to it because it was all about love and kindness. But then as I thought more about it I began to realize that for every person healed, those who weren’t healed are perceived as having dirty energy. Members stay away from these people, except when healing, so as not be infected themselves, and when they are around these people they take many precautions
often alienating themselves or making others feel alienated.
What really drowned my hopes for the validity of pranic healing was seeing pranic healing weight loss. While I could stretch my mind to believe that in the same way we sense and involuntarily turn to look at someone staring at us, our bodies can sense and react to the focused attention of healing and hand movements, I simply couldn’t bring myself to see the fat melting away. And meditating/praying for money was a stretch too.
By the way does anyone know what you are scientifically seeing when you squint and unfocus your eyes? You see these little specks that pranic healers call prana. Are you really seeing something in the air? Or is it something on/in your eye? I always wondered how a doctor would explain this.
I am thankful to have learned so much during my time with this group. And I still go to meditation with my friend, to help and support her…and to engage in interesting conversations about perception. There is no question that followers of this group have some helpful insights on life. There are just too many things that cause concern, the perception of some people being dirty, false promises, viewing all people as potential converts…I ended up having to log it in my mental list of organizations that use spirituality to manipulate the public, right next to Christianity. I love religious sermons of all sorts because I like to play with, compare, and try to understand the ideas from so many different backgrounds. I am sorry to say that my participation is purely intellectual and not spiritual.
And my greatest ideas always come during the Om intervals because of the state of flow it puts me in. I’ve never heard a Eureka while sitting in Church or Synogogue with my family.
I have to say to this Stefano character, pranic healers, and their antagonist….blind faith in the presence or absence of any spirital entitiy is dangerous. We have brains to discern the truth. And the truth is that we know almost nothing.
33. Truth | November 14, 2008 at 1:48 am
I’m putting myself on the limb here, but I’m going to take the risk and tell the world the truth that I personally have discovered about their guru, this Cult and their followers. I was One of Them (until I began using the brain that the Creator gave me).
I’ve been fearful for quite a while after my exposure to the pranic healers and arhatic yogis (the energy stuff is VERY real). For a long time after I took their classes and then was hurt by some mentors, and then energetically pushed away from their teachings, I believed the problem was mine…that I had done something terrible in this life or my past life and that perhaps they way they were treating me was because I had the negative karma they are always speaking of.
When I first found them, I had been asking questions about why we are here, what is the meaning of life, and what is my purpose here. At the time I was not where I wanted to be, experiencing depression, and was trying to figure out what makes me happy. Granted, before I met them I was not very happy (life can be challenging, but its that way for many of us), but it was definitely better before I got exposed to their teachings.
I found their teachings through a free pranic healing clinic. Looking back on it now, I realize they use the Twin Hearts meditations and the free pranic healing clinics to get new members. They use Truth, and energy healing similar to Reiki to lure people in and buy into their beliefs. Because of the beauty, truthfulness, and magical qualities of the Twin Hearts meditation in addition to the effectiveness of the healing modality, Pranic Healing (which is based off of Reiki and Qi-Gong), it is quite easy for people to fall prey to them and be lured into taking more of their classes.
Be very very careful my fellow human beings! If you take the classes, you will be asked to sit with your legs uncrossed and your hands uncrossed, and to keep your tongue on your palette for most of the time to fully absorb their blessings and their teachings. They teach mostly by Oral Tradition, but really it is a tactic they use in order to hypnotize their audience.
They invoke for Higher Beings, Angels, etc…but they are also invoking their Gods and their Gurus. They believe that MCKS is the chosen senior disciple of Buddha Mei Ling also known as Buddha Pambasambava, and that they are descended disciples and the souls of this Buddha, Buddha Kuan Yin, Buddha Shakyamuni, Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, and at the top Lord Vishnu. They believe that one of their own kind will give birth to the next Avatar of Vishnu and they and this avatar, and the arhats that come from their lineage will rule the earth and the rest of man-kind for the greater good of man-kind. According to them, even though we are all children of God…some of us are truly Gods and Goddesses, and the rest of man-kind needs to be ruled by the higher, more spiritual beings. The negative beings (the majority of man-kind) will remain here on the planet in lower energy planes to pay back their karma and the greater more advance people (like them) will accelerate the pay back of their karma and ascend to higher energy planes.
They talk about Oneness and being One with all, but they treat everyone like a contamination. They think they are here to heal the planet and they talk a great deal about this, but in truth…they believe in ruling the world and only energetically working on people to help them to do the following:
1) find more of their lineage (more converts)
2) work on the Swine so that they themselves will be blessed more, and evolve further. They believe what they do for others, will come back to them. That is their sole reason for giving (not to be kind and generous, but to get what they want in return). Healings for healings, money for money, etc.
Please let this posting be used as warning. Anything bad that will happen to me from being attacked energetically by them (the energy stuff unfortunately is very very real) will make it well worth what I had to go through if it means others will find solace, comfort, and advice from my experience.
Hopefully what I went through will save other young impressionable people, those who are seeking alternative healings because they are discouraged by traditional medicine, and especially those who are recovering from childhood trauma and are seeking to be healed and be accepted into a “community”.
IT IS A CULT of the worse kind! Once you are one with them…it is very, very , very difficult to deprogram yourself. There is hope though if you are in this situation. I was able to get out of it and deprogram myself with the help of loved ones, family, and friends. There is a wonderful healing modality out there that does not cost you a dime…called EFT or TAT. Look it up and read all about it. I left pranic healing, and arhatic yoga, but I still believe in alternative medicine and energy healing. I’ve heard wonders about Reiki and EFT, and also naturopathic medicine. If your Will is strong, then it is very possible for someone who has gone to a point of no return (like I did) to come back and return to your natural state. It may take a while for you to find yourself again and you will go through lots of doubt, maybe even want to return back to their community… but don’t give in, stay strong!
I believe that it is unnatural for people to behave like robots or to worry about walking around in the normal world for fear of being contaminated by energy. Energy is energy and there is nothing to fear but fear itself. What you think about, you create. It is as simple as that! Every single one of us is a divine being and we are all worthy of greatness. There are not any of us who are better than another!
Mother nature likes variety, diversity, and uniqueness. She loves the individual, uniqueness and creativity in balance with collectiveness and Oneness. How can we possible expand our lights in different directions, expanding the great universe as we do if we all act like robots believing and thinking the same thing?
My advice to everyone out there is that you should take their classes! It is well worth it! Take their classes and know thy ENEMY. Know their teachings so you can defend yourself and your loved ones not from negative energy…but from THEM.
Here is what they believe and what the WHOLE world should know about and be concerned about. These people are not what they appear to be, their “guru” is also not what he appears to be. Many of the members were lost, sad, lonely, seeking healing, asking questions about who they are and why they are here and what the meaning of life is (lost and searching), suffering from low self-esteem etc. when they came to the Teachings. They end up taking more classes, becoming programmed and hypnotized by the Guru, their Masters, and Instructors, and then end up being brainwashed into their community. Anyone who resists their programming is considered the Swine of the earth and they are a waste of their time. (Do not cast Pearls before Swine). They believe that they are descendents of ancient magick schools from the Gods and they are Gods and Goddesses. Everyone else is less than, a young soul in need of guidance from more ancient souls. You are either one of them (one of the Gods) or someone less (someone to be ruled).
They believe that they are emptying their minds, their systems…they are sacrificing themselves, their lower wills to become something greater then themselves, to become a Great Being and work as a collective Soul to manifest a new world order. One of their biggest projects is to create community centers around the world where they will rule the world, breed with each other to give birth to “golden babies” which they call Baby Arhats, Arhats, etc. so that one day one of their purest of women, an Arhat herself and one of their purest of men, another Arhat will give birth to a super being known as The Great Avatar (the next incarnation of Vishnu/Ram/Krishna, etc.).
Please be careful out there. Take the classes and KNOW what you are up against. Right now, they are working together as a collective to impose their collective powerful Will onto the planet. They do this in disguise of serving the greater good. There is a site out there called http://www.pranatalk.com in the United States where they join together in a worldwide and national meditation to act as One Being and project their energy onto the planet “healing the planet” and “saving the economy”. They think they know what is best for everyone, but in truth they are very scared of Thoughtforms and mass Thoughtforms and do not want the economy to become impoverished because it will greatly affect their wealth and well-being. It’s interesting that they are working together now to save the economy when they are fearful for their own well-being and prosperity, but they did not work together before when the economic system seemed more stable. Hmmmm…very very interesting, isn’t it? How do you all feel about more advanced older souls thinking they know what is better for you than you do?
Once you take Pranic Healing Basic, go right up and start taking the following. Don’t worry about the $$$, just take the class so you too can have this knowledge and can protect yourself and your loved ones. If the other side has a weapon, you too should have as great of a weapon. Knowledge is Power!
Basic 1
Psychic Self Defense (you will need this to be around them to protect yourself and walk around amongst them in disguise)
KriyaShakti (their manifestation, genie creation class…very very effective and useful!)
Arhatic Prep
then more Arhatic classes if needed to take Higher Clairvoyance
They are now making it so you can’t take Higher Clairvoyance (the special sight to see into the past, the present moment, and the future), unless you take Arhatic Prep and higher (I think Arhatic level 1).
If you can take it, try and get into the Higher Clairvoyance class. Make sure to practice your psychic self-defense when you are there. There are in truth, some very very gifted and accurate clairvoyance amongst them. I was one of them but now I choose to use my gifts and powers to protect myself and my family from these people imposing their wills on us and others.
If you can’t take the classes, then definitely do the Twin Hearts. Don’t go overboard with it or you’ll get something called Kundalini Syndrome. This syndrome is very real and unpleasant. You can buy the CD for $15-$20 at their store online http://www.pranichealing.com. This meditation is nothing new and was taken by MCKS and he made it his and then made money on it. It is a good meditation based off of sound principles and it is very effective. I also recommend buying their books, especially Your Hands Can Heal You and definitely Psychic Self-Defense.
The guru used this meditation as a lure to get people into his Cult. People recognize truth when they see it and when they discover this meditation; they naturally want to know more truth. Be careful of others who use the truth but then later mix it with their ego and lies. It is very true that the guru, their masters, their instructors, and their following says to always use your discernment and to question everything. They recommend using the Hand Scan technique they teach to determine truth from lies. Be very careful here… the person you are today is not the person you are tomorrow. We are dying and being reborn on a quantum physics level all the time. It is easy to judge someone based off of who they were and who they are temporarily today, but a person is always growing, changing and evolving. It is best to not judge altogether and to always use your discernment. They will tell you that they practice discernment and the guru advises his students to practice discernment. This advice helps the students and followers to feel at ease, they relax, and let themselves be further hypnotized because they know a truth when they hear one.
Whatever your first instinct is, your intuition is, that is your Soul guiding you. When you doubt yourself, you get into trouble. My first instinct told me to learn the information because there is some truth to it, but not to get caught up in their Cult. Unfortunately I did, but now I believe it is a good thing that it happened so that I can warn everyone out there about it before they get too involved.
It is only a matter of time before their entire organization develops a very bad cult-like reputation, they get further exposed, and they no longer get any more followers. Information travels quickly in this internet day and age.
I laugh because what makes them think that their equivalent of a Virgin Mary and a Joseph would ever be a part of what they are teaching and promoting? It is my personal believe that Great Beings do not exclude people and certainly don’t treat others like contaminations. Look at the wonderful being Jesus Christ (I’m not even a Christian but I love his teachings!!!) and what he taught. Did he treat others like dirty energy contaminations, or did he treat everyone equally (women, lepers, sick people, possessed people, and people of other nationalities and tribes). They speak a lot about the Christ entity…Rabbi Yehosua Bar Mirium, and talk a great deal about mercy and compassion, forgiveness, grace, etc. Then why the hell do they talk so much about negative Karma? The past is the past and that is exactly where it should stay. To talk about other peoples karma or to blame their problems on bad karma is going to create for people seriously bad karma. Watch Out!
As a great teacher once said (again I am not religious, or christian, or anything, I’m just a humble person trying to become better): Ye Who is Without Sin, Cast the First Stone.
I’m now throwing the stone right back at them. Bring It On!!! Lets have a war, shall we? Grace, Mercy and Compassion vs. Negative Karma. Let’s see who wins! Hmmmm I pick Mercy and Compassion. If they believe so much in Buddha Kuan Yin and other Buddhas, why don’t they practice what they preach?
We are all equals my friends and all of us are worthy of all the good stuff. Bad stuff happens sometimes and its just life. We help each other out when we can and we all get closer together, work together in harmony. The planet and its inhabitants are evolving, as natural evolution dictates. It IS what it IS. The past, your past lives, etc. are in the past for a reason. It’s time to move on, focus on the present moment, and go forward into the future creating new wonderful forms with our beautiful minds. Out with the old and in with the new. If you become a robot for others, who in the world do you expect to create new inventions? Use your mind, think for yourself! That is what it is there for!
May God or the Universe or Whatever you special belief is (God or Science or Both) Bless EVERYONE, we indeed are all ONE!

Namaste,
In the classes Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga it is defenitely mentioned that MCKS took an intrest in many religions and healing tecniques and that he tried these tecniques to see how they work and how certain meditations could be put together so it would be most effective. It’s also decribed in his books.
So i don’t get why you say he claimed to have invented it all new by himself. The way he studied it and put it together was his, yes, but it is based upon wisdom all around the worlf and he made no secret of that. You may be sceptic about his work, but unless you’ve studied it, can not say it doesn’t work and he did it for selfish reasons.
Plus, to bring someone to court doesn’t me you don’t forgive them; it means you don’t let others walk all over you. This is important not only for the person himself, but allso for people to follow this example; take your place in this world (and forgive!).
I know many AY’s and many of them do not consider themselfs superior to other energy-work ways. It is a way, and to some one easy to relate to. To each his own, isn’t it? LS.

Greetings. Thank you all for participating in this important discussion that concerns the lives of millions. It is difficult, if not impossible, to understand ALL the Spiritual Truths unless one commit oneself to the practice of what has been taught. Master Choa always reminded not to be happy about knowing something. He said, “you must remember, practice and Master the teachings. You can spend all your life in intellectual discussions; but it would be more sensible to practice and Master the teachings, no matter which is the Source. You talked about Theosophy. Try reading books on theosophy and you will spend rest of your life in criticizing the authors. Wake up. It is never too late. Do something CONSTRUCTIVE for the sake of yourself – forget about others. The Master’s will take care of them.

Thank you for your critical thoughts. It is so easy for new-agey prone people to get swept up by the currents of something hyped and bigger than their own existence. I know there is no difference between “myself” and “them,” just as there is no difference between this social dynamic/phenomenon and that of the mainstream to pop culture celebrities. We all reenact and rehash piecing more and more pastiche into the song of our collective reality.
I appreciate that you point out the hypocrisy and irony that some healers reek falling victim to the same worldly pleasures and powers that their disciples seek.
I teach yoga to people of all ages and study/practice everyday. I understand that the moment we speak, we are actively exposing ourselves to criticism and misunderstanding. As soon as we accuse others for having a “holier than thou” attitude, another is quick to reflect it back–ah the perpetual ricochet. Samsara? Yet opening your voice and telling it like it is (Satya–what is), is a genuinely important action as an attempt for us to start understanding each other.
I’m a little exasperated by what capital has done to yoga, but I am participating in it myself. It is important, however, to question our “gurus” at times especially when their methods and names become trademarks and patented; appropriating ancient ideas, methods, and materials to self-promote and ego-inflate.
Another irony: a healer unable to heal himself. This exposes the nature of abuse or misuse of methods and also begs us to really see “what is” by following our own quest for knowledge and truth. Listening and witnessing. Whether you call it pranic healing or simply good vibrations/intentions, we can all probably attest to the positive effects from loved ones gathering in prayer to a lone bhodisattva serving the suffering.
Discernment and the sword of discrimination have been devalued in pop-spirituality. Before we all realize oneness–before we become ourselves–we must shed what we are not. And somewhere buried beneath our discussions, beneath these words, my words, your words, lies an undisturbed, unstruck perfection that needs no remedy that boasts no success. It is timeless and infinite.
Thanks again for writing an entry that inspires so many passionate responses by people who are trying to become dispassionate toward worldly or perhaps wordy things.

Quote: “Sir, Great Saints don’t die. They give up their body.”
This is a most interesting and amusing comment to me. Is there some difference in the actual physical process between simply ‘dying’ and ‘dropping the body’?
No. There’s no diference at all, it’s pure semantics. In August 2007 my own guru ‘dropped the body’. His followers prayed and ’sent energy’ constantly for three days in the hope that he would pick the body back up again, but guess what? No joy there.
This ‘rationalizing’ the actions of the Group leader is totally common in high control groups.
In November 2008 another guy named Adi Da (Frank Jones) who believed, along with his followers that he was The One, ‘dropped his body’. His disciples prayed for three days and believed that if he didn’t come back, at least his body would remain intact and would not decay like a normal human copse. Guess what? They had to bury him quick because of the smell.
‘Master’ Choa thought Pranic Healing was a ‘Mercedes’ compared to a bike. People in my own energy healing system liked to say that compared to Pranic Healing, we had an aeroplane. Weird, huh?
I also noticed how much Pranic Healing people often like to use the same phrases, more than one person here mentions the need to have an ‘empty cup’ and several say, ‘I pray you will be blessed with spirituality’ etc.
That level of linguistic conformity is a red flag that there is some form of group mind control. I’m not saying Pranic Healing is a cult, just that there are indicators that is a possibility.

P.S.: My Guru used to tell us not to think too much or read too … just like Master Choa!
We weren’t supposed to spend time or exhaust our tiny brains with intellectual pursuits. We were told just to practice ’sending energy’. Let the ‘Master’ deal with the big stuff, no need for a thinking mind.
These guys must have all gone to Guru finishing school together.

The teaching of kundalini self help healing, is a process of growth for each person who is truly settting out to help humanity solve the mistery of death. Many people have their religious point of view but science is still the same. Each element has it’s place in the great expance so live and search from within maybe you will find the link.

sir, a very warm aatma namaste………..i am a great fan and ardent follower of master…….u cant claim that he is a fake……………………………he has already proved his mettle…………and speaking bout the heavy fees charged for learning these courses, only 1/10th of this is used by the foundation. the remaining money is used for the benefit of the poor…..hope so that this has opened your eyes

Atma Namaste!
Anybody can say anything about anybody. But it all depends how they have assessed something and what level of knowledge do they have. Our Satguru has taught us several things.. such as patiency, tolerance, etc., Whatever you may say, it is not necessary your words to be truth and i hope you cannot claim anything like that. Anyway, I salute the Divinity in you. May you go in peace.
Atma Namaste!

In Brazil in a small town in the state of Sao Paulo what heppens is that if you are not into big fashion cult group of pranic healer you are one less important person.
People from the group really think they have the truth and therefore woried to socialize with ”normal” people, worried about bad vibrations, and in between people from the group, hundreds of times i listened to judgments of how someone is not doing well and cheer people up to bring them to do the expensive course with them.
I know this becuase I was there, once I didnt want to feel less special!
I realized that there are good things to be learned and that’s what I tried to do.
Made me realize that my church is not perfec but I d rather sitck with my mass every week and listen to the priest and meditate on what was said that week.
They dont charge me anything, not even 10% of my income. I can give if I can or what money to charity.
I found people from Pranic Healing peculiarly not that Humbel.
I confirm that I have had expirieces with energies and of course that is real. We are made of energy material.
But please dont use in the wrong selfish way using the world as an excuse!
Be Humble and love each other as you wanted to be love!
This is my opinion and I am sorry if anybody didnt like it, I dont mean to hurt anyone. Just to express my opinion on how Pranic Healing ended up beeing important for me to realize some of my truths. As I said, mine.
Regards,
Guilherme

Well my dear friends, first of all, from your article i am coming to an understanding that u dont know what exactly is pranic healing. It is purely scientific. In the classes we do experiments to see if the techniques are working. I have seen lot of miracles with pranic healing. If any of you critics of pranic healing really want to have a serious study about this, you are welcome to my place. You can contact me through email. And pranic healing never says do not go to a doctor. It is a complimentary healing system. And Master Choa Kok Sui never said he’s God… In fact he is the most humble man i have ever known. About him bein sick and bein paranoid b4 dieing is full of crap.. Because he had mentioned about his death even b4 he was dieing. Few years back he said he’ll time in this body is limited.. He always knew his time in this body was limited. And for all your kind informations, the hospitals are also having pranic healing wings. In the U.S most of the pranic healers are Doctors. Even in India, i know lot of doctors who practice pranic healing. As i said b4 i myself have witnessed lot of miracles. ANother thing is do not judge a system or a person by his disciples or ppl who follow the system. For example, because of a bad doctor, would you say the entire modern medicine is bad … or because of a bad medicine, would u say entire alopathy system is bad????? The same way u shuld view otehr systems.. Soo my request is do not judge a system by seeing only some isolated incidents. As i said b4 … If you want to know it and validate by urself … i can introduce you to lot of people who got cure because of pranic healing.. and i am talkin about severe cases which the modern medicine has no cures….

Goodness! It took a long time to scroll to the bottom of this page to add a comment.
I am grateful to everyone who has contributed but must admit by post 27 I stopped reading in detail.
I recently came across pranic healing as a patient. It seemed to be incredibly beneficial to me and I was quite open to it…until last weekend when I attended a WESAK – group full moon meditation. I looked around the room and saw some grasping souls looking for meaning and exibiting some, strange behaviour.
The group meditation and chant was offputting – I wasn’t feeling the magic and I was trying so hard. Finally in a break I was reading a brochure suggesting courses and noticed the “psychic self-defensive ” course and alarm bells started going off. That led me to search the name of Choa Kok Sui and to this article. I appreciate everyone’s views and contributions but no one told me at any time their Master was no longer alive. None of the literature refers to it and certainly not about his age. It’s small details like this, plus suggestions of programming behaviours like ‘psychic self-defence’ which have me now doubting my experience, which had been so great until these events. The word cult has now entered my head and the more I read, the more I am becoming concerned, right down to the registered trademark on the ’superbrain yoga’ book I see advertised. Suggestions of money permeate what I would have thought to be wisdom and knowledge which would be readily available and free if it was so geniune.
Any advice?

I agree with DRV Acharya. I have learnt Pranic Healing and Arahatic yoga directly from Chao Kok Sui and I am thankful to him for that. But even 15 years ago he did have a tendency to behave like a megalomaniac, and his fawning followers only added to that problem.
Most such ‘gurus’ and ’swamis’ tend to become intoxicated with their own fan following and start believing they are gods of some kind.
While there is something in such healing techniques, they cannot be seen as effective in most cases. They work effectively only for very sensitive people and even that only as a complementary system. For people who are not sensitive these techniques do not work at all.
Personally I preferred to learn such techniques as a means of direct contact with the subtle and esoteric aspects of life rather than as a healing technique.
Thanks & Regards.

I partly agree with this article. Not only Master Choa Kok Sui, but also healing gurus including Mikao Usui died young, and I wonder why they could not heal themselves.
However, I would like to say that Pranic Healing is REAL.
I went to a FREE Pranic Healing clinic recently. The healer did a very good job, and I felt very good afterward.
So, I bought a book from Pranichealing.com and practiced healing to my son with some chronic condition, and he also dramatically improved.
Master Choa Kok Sui does not claim that Pranic Healing is totally new. Instead, he honestly claims that he developed it based on the Chinese Qigong, Indian Ayurveda, etc. I also have learnd Qigong myself, and I admit that Pranic Healing is easier to learn and more efficient for the beginners compared to traditional Qigong.

Hello,
Half knowledge is always dangerous. It is a common sense for a human to respect each other and especially towards spiritual masters. if one likes go ahead, if not leave it a side- God always has great messeges to be sent to the world through them. To those necessery and are eligible to them reach to it. Master Choa has never claimed his teachings to be his own as well he never posed himself to be a Buddha- ofcourse it is not a title that on gets if posed to be. It is lived and is natural and is automatically recognised in a person. Poeple who are ignorant to the facts can read master’s books that quote his techings to be those secrets which mean not publicly know facts- are from various practises that are already in use. Master has accumulated the scattered knowledge and has refined to put it in away that a humanly man can solve his problems at every level and develop faster.
The cost element- more than 99% of spending is for service activities and it is official. It is a simple truth many miss- if one sow’s a mango seed one gets mango fruits. Our experiences are results of our actions-newton’s third law is applicable spiritually as well.

FOR THOSE
WHO QUESTION HEALERS
FOR DYING VERY YOUNG !!!
I have never known “gurus”, healers, or prophets stating that their mission in life was avoiding the death of their bodies. Instead they only focus on serving others with utter passion and commitment.
Jesus, Sahajanada and Choa Kok Sui died very young, and we could judge them because of that, OR we may see the impact they cause on earth while they were alive and even after that.
Regular meditation, NLP, Pranic Healing, Reiki, powerful life changing experiences and the influence of many spiritual leaders (including those who have died young) have contributed to change the way I see and live my life today.
I believe that our mission on this planet must go beyond the idea of whether we are going to die or live. If we only let our mind, body and spirit focus on serving others and doing good for the humanity, we would build heath to continue doing so (with the support of the prana, the universe and God) , OR until our mission has been accomplished, regardless how old we are.
If our body die very young (for whatever reason: due to illness or because some body kill our body) our immortal spirit may only be proud of our transcendental accomplishments on earth.
God and the life force be with you all!!
Thanks!!
Hector Ricardo

My sister joined this organization about a year ago, taken a class or 2, and is now calling herself a healer. I think there have been very few true healers that have manifested in my lifetime. But if anyone actually calls themselves a healer, they need to investigate their ego. First, no one ever heals anyone else. You might be a conduit or facilitator, but one does not heal any one else.
Secondly, most of the healing occurs in the mind. If you believe something will work long and hard enough then it will. People who believe in God basically need a sense of security, in case they have a bout of fear, they can call upon a God to protect them.
Or you can believe in the true healing power of donuts or expensive pendants from the Pranic Healing website. Believe in it if you want. It’s OK.
One thing I do know…..no one knows the truth about anything. The only way that will ever happen is to stop your thoughts and mind, and see things for what they are. People can go through hundreds of lifetimes for that to happen.
The one thing that really turned me off about this whole deal, is the store, and the different toys they were selling. Selling jewelry for 155.00 a shot for psychic protection to me is the ultimate in commercial exploitation. Not once did I ever read in the Bible or the Teachings of the Buddha any kind of jewelry and stones needed for any protection….
How about a Tibetan OM Pendant for balancing chakras….
how about just living in the moment, and start taking an inventory of your own crap…..the audacity of people that say they can heal is one big ego trip and presumptuous to say the least. The Buddha said that you are your own refuge.. I say he was right.
