Amazon wouldn&#039;t do that because they would be cannibalizing their revenues from the Kindle Reader. 
But overall the most important development in the Kindle reader is that it is going to break the sterotype that eBooks are not usable and convenient like normal books. It is only Amamzon who can break this sterotype and not companies like Sony as Amazon has been associated with retailing of books and along with publishers with whom amazon is collaborating they know the market segment and target readers much better than anyone else. Once this sterotype is destroyed and people become accustomed to using ebooks, then we will have a huge deluge of players who would bring their eBook products. After all there is no great technology involved in this.</description>
